New Phone System

Our new phone system is now up and running. Parents and telephone callers to the school will be greeted by our auto-attendant. They will then have the options of registering a child absence, getting general information about events at Hayes School or talking to our main reception.

We would ask all parents to please use this new system instead of just calling main reception to tell our receptionist that their child is absent from school, or to ask about non-uniform or sports days, as the information will be available on option 2, as well as our website and the usual newsletters home.

Back to School!

Well it was back to school this week after the summer break.

Hayes School saw people go and new people join.

Mr Thompson who had been at the school for 35 years left for retirement (although he really doesn't look old enough!)

Mrs Horn has gone on a year's secondment to work at Torbay CPD to train HLTAs, and of course year 6 left us for the next exciting part of their life in education - so it's goodbye to old friends and welcome to new ones.

Mrs Akery joins us in year 2, teaching alongside Mrs Torpey and Miss Hayes joins us in year 3 teaching along side Mr Boys.

Hayes School Summer Fayre

Our annual summer fayre is on Saturday 7th July starting at 12pm.

This is one of our most popular events of the year, with lots of activities for all the family, lots of things for sale and good food. All this help the School Association to raise funds for the school to provide excellent resources for the children.

Healthy Week at Hayes School

This week we have a lot going on in the school.

Not only is it our Healthy week including lots of activities (keep fit, martial arts, learning about healthy foods etc) and our Sports Day, but we've also had a visit by "Any Dream Will Do" contestant Daniel Boys and a Guiness Book of Records atempt by the children of the school to set an new world record for a "Walking Bus" in conjunction with road safety charity Brake.

Mr Boys' Brother in final 11 of "Any Dream Will Do"!

Have you been watching BBC 1 on Saturday Evenings? If so then you will have seen the excellent Daniel Boys who the judges are raving about!

Daniel is Mr Richard Boys' brother who is a Year 6 teacher here at Hayes School. We're sure that you will join with us in wishing Daniel the best of luck and keep voting for him as we know he'll make an excellent Joseph if he wins.

Breakfast Club

Starting at Hayes School is our New "Early Bird" Breakfast Club.

This clubs runs from 8.00am - 8.45am every weekday during term time, it is fully supervised and a large range of activities is on offer to the children who are members as well as members receiing a healthy breakfast prepared in our own catering facilities.

Parents' Survey

Last Week 6th and 7Th December Hayes School had their first new style OFSTED inspection.

We had been expecting this for months, and though that now this may be in the new year, but this was not to be!

After months of preparation and lots of hard work by all staff the Inspectors came, the verdict?

Hayes is a Good school with many outstanding features.

This contains a limited range (at the moment) of freeware games that we have downloaded from the internet (all rights remain with the original creator).

Depending on the popularity of this area, more games may be added shortly.

Computer Club for Girls.

Coming soon! If you are a year 5 or 6 girl you may be interested in joinging the CC4G. This is a computer club aimed at girls, where you can use ICT to learn about fashion design, TV productions, CSI and a whol lot of other things.

If you're interested in joining please talk to Mrs Roberts.

Hayes School Association Summer Fayre

Hayes School Association Summer Fayre is on Saturday 1st July 2006.

This popular yearly event is always well supported. There are stalls selling various items, food and drink, fun and games (bouncy castle, asault course, mini quad bikes), fun for all the family.

All the money raised is ploughed back into the school to provide resources for the staff and pupils.

If you are in the area on that day why not pay us a visit?

Welcome to Hayes School Blog.
Our School is situated in the seaside town of Paignton which, along with Torquay and Brixham forms the English Riveria.
Hayes School is situated approximately 1 mile from the town centre opposite a natural woodland and within a pleasant residential area.
There are approximately 460 children on roll including part time nursery children. The children are mixed ability, two classes per year group.
The school has been fully refurbished over the past years and now boasts a nursery, early years and main school building. There is a large playing field, several playgrounds for various aged children and a happy school community to fill them all!
Hayes School is the only school in Great Britain to teach all children to play steel drums and marimbas. We participate in South Devon Music Proms and Music for Youth competitions where we have been priveledged to perform in the Q E Hall London.

Our Vision

We are committed to creating and maintaining a happy and rigorous working and learning environment where everybody tries to become the best that they can be in everything that they do.
